MINURSO’S PEACEKEEPERS: NATIONAL DAY OF THE REPUBLIC OF GUINEA

On 2 October, MINURSO raised the flag of the Republic of Guinea at the Mission's headquarters in Laayoune to commemorate the country’s National Day. This day marks the declaration by Guinea of its independence from France on 2 October 1958.

Guinea is a contributor of troops to UN peacekeeping operations deployed worldwide, including five military observers serving in MINURSO.

The red color in Guinea’s flag stands for sacrifice, the yellow represents the sun and the green the vegetation of the country.

 Bonne fête nationale Guinée!
